St. Michael interior painting from a Wright County neighbor

If you need interior painting in St. Michael, you want someone who does the prep that makes a finish last, not just the coat you see. Steve Greene Painting is a Wright County painter based in Rockford, just south of St. Michael, and we specialize in the detail work: sprayed cabinet enamel, trim enamel, and repairing water-stained ceilings so the stain stays gone. We're rated 5 stars on Google, and the estimate is free.

St. Michael grew quickly along I-94 and Highway 241, and a lot of its homes were built in the same era with the same finishes: oak or maple cabinets, builder flat paint, and MDF trim with a single coat. Older homes near the historic downtown, around the landmark St. Michael Catholic Church, have solid wood trim and older ceilings. We work on both, and we prep each one for what it is.

Services

What We Do in St. Michael Homes

01

Cabinet Enamel

Oak and maple cabinets deglossed, primed with a bonding primer and spray enameled for a smooth finish that holds up to a busy kitchen.

02

Trim Enamel

Baseboards, casings and stair parts enameled to match the cabinets, so the white is consistent from room to room.

03

Molding Painting

Crown, wainscoting and built-ins caulked, sanded and cut by hand. This is where a careful painter and a fast one look different.

04

Wall and Ceiling Painting

Patching, sanding and a washable finish on walls, with full ceiling repaints when the old ceiling has yellowed or cracked.

05

Water-Damaged Ceiling Restoration

Water stains sealed with a stain-blocking primer, drywall repaired, texture matched and the full ceiling repainted.

How It Works

From Estimate to Final Walk-Through

No handoffs and no surprise scope changes. Here's how a St. Michael job runs.

  1. 01

    Free In-Person Estimate

Steve looks at the actual surfaces in your St. Michael home, points out anything that will affect the finish, and gives you a clear scope before you commit.

  2. 02

    Prep, Then Paint

Patching, sanding, cleaning and priming come first. Floors and furniture get covered, and anything not being painted gets masked.

  3. 03

    Walk-Through and Cleanup

We clean up, then walk the finished work with you in good light. If something isn't right, it gets fixed before we leave.

Cabinets, Trim, and Walls in One Project

Painting the cabinets white and leaving the oak trim next to them usually looks unfinished. Many of our jobs pair the two: cabinets, baseboards, door casings and stair parts done together in the same enamel, followed by the walls. One reviewer hired Steve to enamel their oak cabinets, molding and stairwell, then added the ceilings and walls once they saw the result. Planning it as one project saves a second round of setup and means the whites match.

Steve + Team did a phenomenal job painting all 4400 sq ft interior painting while we were on vacation for a week, even finishing the job early! They fixed drywall errors (of which I was oblivious prior to him pointing out the flaws in the initial quote), touched up the enamel/molding, and did a beautiful job beyond our expectations even cleaning up so well after themselves. We were beyond impressed and would absolutely hire them again and recommend others do the same!

On my main level, Steve painted my oak kitchen cabinets, fixed my ceiling and then resprayed the entire ceiling. I added on to the project and had the downstairs painted. Steve and his team did a great job. I was impressed with the responsiveness and attention to detail. I couldn’t be happier with the results and would definitely recommend!

Our wooden window sills/frames needed some repair, and we hired Steve and his team to re-stain and varnish all the window frames in our house. I can't believe the difference. Many of them were faded and some looked like the wood was starting to rot. After Steve and his team were here, they look completely different. They did a great job, and I would definitely hire them again. Steve is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain his process.

We hired Steve to white enamel our main level cabinets, molding and stairwell which initially were oak. The finished product was beautiful and he did such an exceptional job that we additionally had him paint our ceiling and walls. Steve is extremely knowledgeable, reliable and easy to work with. He is committed to providing high quality services at reasonable costs. We will definitely be using him again for future projects!

Frequently asked questions

Do you work in St. Michael, MN?
Yes. St. Michael is one of the closest towns to our Rockford base. We also work in neighboring Albertville, Hanover and Otsego.
Should I paint my trim at the same time as my cabinets?
If the trim is oak and the cabinets are going white, usually yes. Leaving natural trim next to painted cabinets tends to look half done. Doing them together means one setup, one product and whites that match. See our molding painting page for how we handle the trim side.
Can you match the white on my existing trim?
Yes. If you have leftover paint we can use it, and if not we can match from a sample. In older homes the existing trim white has often yellowed, especially oil-based paint, so repainting all the trim in a room usually looks better than spot matching. We'll show you the difference on site.
How long does cabinet enamel take to cure?
It's dry to the touch within hours, but enamel takes a few weeks to reach full hardness. We give each coat proper time before the next one and before doors go back on, and we'll tell you how gently to treat the doors during the first couple of weeks.
How do I get a price for my St. Michael project?
Call (763) 228-5544 or send the estimate form. Steve will look at the job in person and give you a clear scope before anything is scheduled.
