Long Lake interior painting, done carefully

If you need interior painting in Long Lake, chances are the house has some age to it, or sits close enough to the water that humidity has done some work on it. Older homes near downtown Long Lake have original trim, older plaster or drywall ceilings, and layers of paint that need real prep before another coat goes on. Steve Greene Painting does that prep: sanding failing paint, repairing cracked ceilings, and spraying cabinets to a smooth enamel finish. We're rated 5 stars on Google, and the estimate is free.

Long Lake is a small city on the lake of the same name, surrounded by Orono, with the Luce Line State Trail running through town. It sits well inside our service area, between Medina and Wayzata. Lakeside homes deal with moisture: window frames that weather, ceilings that show stains, and trim that moves with the seasons. Those surfaces need the right primer and the right product, not just a fresh coat.

How It Works

From Estimate to Final Walk-Through

No handoffs and no surprise scope changes. Here's how a Long Lake job runs.

  1. 01

    Free In-Person Estimate

Steve looks at the actual surfaces in your Long Lake home, points out anything that will affect the finish, and gives you a clear scope before you commit.

  2. 02

    Prep, Then Paint

Patching, sanding, cleaning and priming come first. Floors and furniture get covered, and anything not being painted gets masked.

  3. 03

    Walk-Through and Cleanup

We clean up, then walk the finished work with you in good light. If something isn't right, it gets fixed before we leave.

Older Paint Needs a Different Kind of Prep

Many older homes have oil-based paint on the trim under newer latex. Latex over oil without the right primer can peel off in strips. We check the existing trim paint, sand and prime with a bonding primer when there's oil underneath, and only then put on the finish enamel. If your home was built before 1978, the older layers should be tested for lead before any sanding, and we'll talk that through with you at the estimate.

Steve + Team did a phenomenal job painting all 4400 sq ft interior painting while we were on vacation for a week, even finishing the job early! They fixed drywall errors (of which I was oblivious prior to him pointing out the flaws in the initial quote), touched up the enamel/molding, and did a beautiful job beyond our expectations even cleaning up so well after themselves. We were beyond impressed and would absolutely hire them again and recommend others do the same!

On my main level, Steve painted my oak kitchen cabinets, fixed my ceiling and then resprayed the entire ceiling. I added on to the project and had the downstairs painted. Steve and his team did a great job. I was impressed with the responsiveness and attention to detail. I couldn’t be happier with the results and would definitely recommend!

Our wooden window sills/frames needed some repair, and we hired Steve and his team to re-stain and varnish all the window frames in our house. I can't believe the difference. Many of them were faded and some looked like the wood was starting to rot. After Steve and his team were here, they look completely different. They did a great job, and I would definitely hire them again. Steve is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain his process.

We hired Steve to white enamel our main level cabinets, molding and stairwell which initially were oak. The finished product was beautiful and he did such an exceptional job that we additionally had him paint our ceiling and walls. Steve is extremely knowledgeable, reliable and easy to work with. He is committed to providing high quality services at reasonable costs. We will definitely be using him again for future projects!

Frequently asked questions

Do you work in Long Lake, MN?
Yes. Long Lake is inside our service area, along with Orono, Wayzata, Medina and the other western suburbs.
Can you paint over oil-based trim paint?
Yes, with the right prep. Latex applied straight over oil-based paint doesn't bond well and can peel. We clean and sand the trim, prime with a bonding primer made for the job, then finish with enamel. See our trim enamel page for more.
My ceiling has hairline cracks. Can you fix them before painting?
Yes. Hairline cracks get opened up slightly, taped or filled, and feathered smooth so they don't telegraph through the new paint. On textured ceilings we match the texture before the whole ceiling is repainted, so the repair blends in.
Do you refinish weathered window frames?
Yes. Window frames on the lake side of a house often take the most sun and moisture. We sand off the failing finish, re-stain to match, and seal with fresh varnish. Our window frame staining page walks through it.
How do I get a price for my Long Lake project?
Call (763) 228-5544 or send the estimate form. Steve will look at the house in person, because prep needs on an older home don't show up in photos.
